Hepatoma Associated with Hypoglycemia and Erythrocytosis

Abstract
|

|
|
A 41 year old roan with hepatoma developed intermittent episodes of obtunded mentation. The impaired mentation was initialy thought to be due to hepatic failure. However it turns out to be from profound hypoglycemia. When patients with hepatoma present with symptoms and signs of central nervous systems disturbances, attention is called to other possible causes of systemic manifestation of hepatoma such as hypoglycemia and hypercalcemia The proposed mechamisms for hypoglycemia in association with tumor are briefly reviewed.
